Brown Sugar Scalp Scrub

Exfoliating scrubs are great for removing undesirable oils and other byproduct on the surface of your scalp, remove dead skins cells, and encourages cell circulation. According to CurlyNikki.com, pore-clogged scalps repels water and block oxygen. This is a major deterrent to growing long and healthy hair. Consider massaging your scalp while applying the scrub to stimulate blood flow, which also fosters growth. I found this recipe on Curly Nikki’s site:

Brown Sugar Scalp Scrub (can be used on dry or damp hair)

2 tablespoons of Olive oil
2-3 Tablespoons of Organic Light Brown Sugar
3 drops of essential oil (i.e. peppermint oil)

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl and be sure to add enough sugar to make a thin paste. Do not heat the oil. Part the hair into 6 or more sections. Apply the scrub to the entire scalp, separating hair as you go along.  In a circular motion, slowly scrub the scalp with the mixture for 1-2 minutes. Do not scrub roughly—that would lead to irritation. Rinse, shampoo, and condition your hair as normal.

Why use Organic Brown Sugar? Because the granules are larger, which gives a better scrubbing experience. The regular brown sugar sold in stores will work, but may not be as effective. Check out Whole Foods for Organic products.
