Here's a fun and easy way to add some creativity to your egg-dying project this Easter.
What's You'll Need:
Cooled, Boiled Eggs
Several Small Containers
Kook-Aid Packets (usually 5 for $1)
2/3 Cup of Water for each color
Since Kool-Aid has citric acid, vinegar is not necessary. Mix one packet of Kool-Aid with 2/3 cup of water (over the sink to avoid a mess). Then dip and non-cracked, boiled egg into the mixture and allow the color to process before removing the egg to dry. The eggs will smell fruity at first, but will taste like a perfectly normal boiled easter egg once dried. It doesn't matter is lukewarm or cold water is used;both will produce the same results. Enjoy!
TIPS:
*Choose bold Kool-Aid colors for the best results (e.g. Strawberry, Cherry, Berry Blue, Lemon Lime, Orange).
* Lemonade and Grape are not good choices; too light and too dark, respectively. Try these mixes instead--
For pink eggs, full packet of Pink Lemonade with 1/4 packet of Cherry or Strawberry
For bright yellow, use a full packet of Lemonade with 1/4 packet of Orange
I have GOT to try this! Easter dying packets are already running thin in the stores. This is such a great alternative....and less stinky.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I think a play date craft might be necessary for this. :)
